Deceased Estate DNA Testing

Using DNA to resolve contests over deceased estates

There are occasions when claims to the estate of a deceased person are brought into question because of doubts surrounding the paternity, maternity or another genetic relationship between the deceased and one or more claimants.

DNA is the best way to prove beyond a doubt whether the genetic relationship exists.

Who is this test for?

Anyone who feels they may have a claim to an estate by virtue of being genetically related to the deceased.

How do you get DNA samples from the deceased?

It's advisable that samples from a pathology or autopsy procedure are used for the deceased. In practice however, even if those aren't available, it is generally still possible to do the test using samples from other known living relatives.

How much does a deceased estate DNA test cost?

The price of a deceased estate DNA test varies according to the test required.
